Al-Kabbaj represents Egypt to attend the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs

Yasser Badry 12-23-2021 This Thursday morning, Her Excellency Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, left Cairo at the head of a delegation of senior ministry officials, heading to the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend a number of Arab and international meetings, most notably the meeting of the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, where she participates. Al-Qabbaj as a permanent member of the Council of Ministers of Arab Affairs. The Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed that the Arab ministers will discuss in this meeting a number of priority files for joint Arab social development work, foremost among which is the preparation for the upcoming Arab summit and the cooperation files it will address related to strengthening social protection networks and supporting Arab efforts to implement the sustainable development goals for the year 2030. Especially with regard to persons with disabilities and the elderly, as well as topics related to family and childhood protection. Al-Qabbaj added that it was agreed that the Arab Republic of Egypt will host the conference “Implementing the Arab Strategy for Voluntary Work 2020-2030” in March 2022, in addition to holding an Arab symposium on rapid response methods regarding relief and protection of persons with disabilities in crises and disasters. The Minister of Social Solidarity is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with Arab ministers concerned with human and social development files, in addition to a special meeting with representatives of specialized organizations affiliated with the United Nations participating in the meetings, in order to discuss cooperation files between Egypt and those international organizations. The meetings of the Ministers of Social Affairs are preceded by the conference meeting, which is the first of its kind in the Arab region, which is the Conference of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the executive offices of the Arab ministerial councils concerned with the social sectors, in addition to the ministers concerned with Arab youth and sports affairs, the Arab Council for Health and Development, and the UNESCO Program Forum for Managing Social Transformations. For Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, under the title “The Differential Impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Drawing Recovery Paths for the Arab Region and Supporting Weak and Vulnerable Groups in Epidemics and Crises.” It is expected that representatives of specialized United Nations agencies will participate in this important Arab conference, led by UNESCO and the United Nations Group on Sustainable Development. It is also scheduled to raise the decisions issued by the meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, which was held in Jordan during the month of October 2021. The results of this conference are part of the social file to be presented to the next Arab Summit, in order to formulate and develop a plan of action at the level of all Arab countries to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and move forward to continue implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.
